The Walk in the Park
It was a beautiful April afternoon when Alice took her dog Samuel to the park for his long-awaited walk. Six weeks had come and gone since he was able to use his hind legs without any pain; physical for him, emotional for Alice. The surgery was hard for both of them. Sammy, as he liked to be called, looked up at Alice as if to tell her how much this walk meant to him. She smiled back at him and extracted from her pocket a small piece of her biscotti for Sammy to nibble on. At that moment, a nearby man on rollerskates burst into flames for no apparent reason. Sammy finished his snack and the pair continued on their walk, completely undis
