Hm... this all makes sense. But I seem to recall hearing that though shopping centers as being well stocked and easily defened fortresses, they will be mobbed with poorly educated (about the undead) people at the first wiff of rotting flesh.

Heh, indeed. My sense of irony made me put it in there. In reality, a shopping center or mall would be a terrible choice, as the multiple glass-door entrances would make for easy access for the undead, but that's the first go-to place in so many zombie movies (and games), so its satirical inclusion was practically necessary. =P
