Artist's Comments

Artist's Note: I'm so glad you all enjoy this stamp so much, but could you please check out the rest of my gallery? You might like what you find! Thanks!

A lot of artists (particularly one of my favorite dA artists, =Teruchan) have gotten flack from people from time to time saying the art they do is wrong or inappropriate. If you or someone you know has been affected by this, or if you just support the idea, then :+fav: it and add it to your journal!

(Be sure to let me know if you put in your journal so I can check it out!) ^_^

UPDATE: 50 views in three minutes?! Damn!

I'm not trying to bite your head off, I'm simply offering my side of the discussion. I still think you're missing the point. The point of this saying is simply "Artists should not be condemned for their work." I do disagree that Teruchan doing such artwork labels him a pervert. I've drawn stuff people could label as porn, but that doesn't make me a pervert. The content can be perverted in nature, but that doesn't mean the creator is.

For instance, I listen to heavy metal. And in heavy metal, there's a lot of sex and violence. Just because a band sings about either of those things, it doesn't mean they're singing it because they themselves are sexual deviants or violent people; it's simply the art they choose to create for whatever their reasons may be.

I still think you should re-read the other comments and think about what they're saying, what I'm saying to you and to them, and I think you should also think a bit more about what you're trying to say to provide a stronger argument for you position rather than appear (accidentally or intentionally) as someone charging in with both guns blazing. I do, however, want to say thank you for sticking to your guns, and I respect the fact that you are very passionate about what you believe in.

:iconrdeis:
When you drew the porn- did you draw yourself in it? That was MY point. He draws his avatar looking up girls' skirts and snuggled in their breasts. If he just drew the stuff, yes, there is an argument that he's not a pervert- but because he draws an avatar of himself in the pictures in such a fashion does make it a bit of a stronger suggestion that, no, he is a pervert. And elaborating "Some could label it porn" a bit. Was it an artistic nude study where, really, if you think it's porn you need to get your head out of the gutter- or was it two people fucking and violated the devArt rules so you couldn't even consider putting it here?

Also, I pointed out that depending on the laws in your country it might be illegal. I didn't really ever get mad. The closest I got was my sarcasm about america. Where did I come in with guns blazing? Heck, where'd I get at all passionate?

FAQ #81: How can I make links to other deviants, deviations, or websites?
:iconquazo:
You're passionate because you won't let it go. And I respect that, but you're coming off like you've got a chip on your shoulder. The fact that you started your argument with sarcasm makes it a bit more difficult to distinguish it as such and makes it a bit harder for you to be taken seriously as well.

The fact that Teru adds the bunny avatar in there isn't done for any reason other than to make people laugh. You have to understand that he's doing it in a purely tongue-in-cheek manner to show that he isn't a perv. So, once more, I really feel you're missing the point. Even if you have gotten the point, you're making a mountain out of a mole hill to the point where all I can really assume you're doing is trying to simply get the last word in. If you agree with the sentiment of the saying "Art is not a crime", then say so. If not, then say so.

The countries that outlaw art are the ones that outlaw just about every form of self-expression. You'll also note that they're also the ones where everyone is relly zealous and pissed off.

You keep replying, too. It's not like you're saying "stop commenting, leave me alone" or something- THEN 'you won't let it go' is warranted. Instead, you're replying as if this were a conversation. When's the last time you paused mid-conversation and said "God, let it go already!" on the topic you were just conversing? Of course not, you'd sound ridiculous unless it were made painfully obvious that you had been attempting to get off of that topic- which you have not been.

And when did I ever claim to be wanted to taken seriously? Helps if I don't because I tend to have complete apathy towards the subject of the argument and am merely pointing out that if you're going to be broad-ranged with art, yes, in some places it's a crime.

Oh my god. Quazo, I saw your journal, and was like, "waa?" and then read the comments. .... Oh my god, people.

I like the stamp. I don't think the intention was what these people are accusing you of. Hm. And what's with people debating about these things in your comments, anyway?

I like the stamp. I think it is a positive message and gets your point of view across. THAT is what a stamp is supposed to be. So I love you and your stamp. :D
